Superintendent's Message

Dear Reading Community Schools Students, Families, Staff, and Community Members,

It is a true honor to welcome you to the start of a new school year as your Superintendent of Schools. Stepping into this role, I am filled with immense gratitude and enthusiasm to join a district with such a rich history of strong community support, dedicated educators, and incredible students.

Every school year represents a fresh chapter—a time for new beginnings, higher goals, and expanded horizons. As Superintendent, my top priority is ensuring that every student who walks through our doors feels safe, supported, and challenged to reach their highest potential. We are committed to fostering academic excellence, nurturing social and emotional well-being, and providing meaningful opportunities across academics, arts, athletics, and extracurricular programs.

Great schools are built on great partnerships. High-quality education is a collective effort, relying on open communication and trust between our schools, families, and the broader community. Over the coming weeks and months, my primary focus will be to listen, learn, and engage. I look forward to meeting our students in the hallways, collaborating with our talented teachers and staff, and connecting with parents and community partners to listen to your hopes for our district.

The website is the main hub for information regarding school and community partnerships.  The best communication is always face-to-face, but the website is a valuable tool for quick and easy communication.  I truly encourage you to reach out to administrators, teachers and staff if you need help with anything regarding your child.

I am eager to begin this journey with you all and look forward to an outstanding school year ahead.

Warm regards,

Mel Rentschler
